Learn about your Instructor Shannon Carr…

Shannon became a RIE® Associate in 2020, but has been in awe of the Educaring® Approach since 2002 after reading Your Self-Confident Baby and seeing such positive outcomes in infant classrooms and with her own children. She began her RIE® training in 2013 and became a RIE® Associate in 2020. She has worked with families and early childhood professionals in some capacity since 1994 as a teacher, director, parent educator, advocate for children in foster care, and trainer. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching and Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development. Inspired by Magda Gerber’s Educaring® Approach and the desire to share her work with others, she created Friends of RIE® Midwest and in 2017 founded RISE, where she provides workshops to parents and early childhood providers, facilitates parent-infant guidance classes, and consults privately with families and professionals.

What others are saying about the Course…

Fantastic listenership had command of the class gave ample time for thought and processing thereof. Made sure we followed and participated. Was very engaging, we all cried a lot, I mean like a lot! Just very emotionally attuned to all individuals!! She is really the new age teacher Magda had in mind.
— Grace K.
Thank you for your carefully chosen content, conversation topics and in class activities! Every part contributed to my learning in a positive way.
— Christina T.
The Foundations Course I found was really amazing and inspiring.
— Margie P.
I would love to find a way to share the Educaring approach with those around me. It has made me such a better teacher and person I would feel selfish keeping it to myself.
— Meg N.
“Falling down is simply a loss of balance.” Magda Gerber
As stated in this quote, Magda Gerber unapologetically offers a refreshing perspective on life.
— Elizabeth P.
The information and exercises presented in this class is relevant to me not only for work, but also for welcoming this new baby into our family! It may be my fourth child, but each time is new and a new opportunity to parent respectfully as I learn more and more how to do this.
— Katie P.
